The teen fantasy series and paranormal romance, published in Brazil as Academia De Vampiros, it's passed in the present and shows a hidden world of vampires, alchemy and magic. Rose Hathaway (Zoey Deutch) is a dhampir - the intersection of vampire and human - and she is being trained to become guardian of her best friend Lissa Dragomir (Lucy Fry), princess and only heir of the Dragomirs, one of the 12 families of the royal Moroi. Moroi are a peaceful race and magical mortal vampires, who survive the light of day, and they feed on consensual blood donors, they age and die.

To become a guardian, Rose attends the Saint Vladimir's Academy, where she learns to deal with the skills inherited as dhampir and fight the Strigoi, evil immortal vampires and predators of the Moroi. In this learning process, she discovers she shares a psychic bond with Lissa and lives a forbidden romance with her mentor Dimitri (Danila Kozlovsky). Olga Kurylenko (Oblivion) will be Kirova, Headmistress of the academy. Sami Gayle (Blue Bloods) is Mia, enemy of the ladies in history.
Also in the cast are Sarah Hyland (Natalie Dashkov), Joely Richardson (Queen Tatiana), Gabriel Byrne (Victor Dashkov), Cameron Monaghan (Mason Ashford), Claire Foy (Sonya Karp), Ashley Charles (Jesse Zeklos), Dominic Sherwood (Christian Ozera), among others.
Don Murphy is producing the film for Preger Entertainment with Mark Waters (The Spiderwick Chronicles, Mean Girls) as the director. The director's brother, Dan Waters (Heathers) is the screenwriter.
Vampire Academy debut on February 14 in the U.S. and March 14 in Brazil.
